For my studies I utilized lectures, labs, and practice exams from Dion Training Solutions. I present the certifications I acquired for the lectures that cover the two separate certifications. These lectures collectively required 24.5 hours of listening and following labs.

I followed the Linux essentials lectures and used labs to learn the basics of using the terminal with Linux. I used Debian based Ubuntu and Debian based Kali Linux. I had a decent understanding of the fundamentals of Linux before with taking Hack the Box module that covered Linux fundamentals, which I discussed in a previous blog post and working linux in my childhood.

This course prepares you for the LPI Linux Essentials (010-160) certification by covering key skills like:

  • Free and Open Source Software, the various communities and licenses
  • Processes, programs and the components of an operating system
  • Computer hardware
  • System security, users/groups and file permissions for public and private directories
  • Make the system accessible and able to connect to other computers on a Local Area Network (LAN)
  • Open Source Applications in the workplace as they relate to closed source equivalents
  • File system browsers on a Linux Desktop
  • Where to go for help
  • Work on the command line and with files
  • Make and restore simple backups and archives
  • Use a basic command line editor
  • File compression
  • Create and run simple shell scripts

For the next lecture, I covered information on the CompTIA Tech+ certification, which provides a comprehensive overview of all technology components. My previous CompTIA A+ certification gave me a solid foundation in the covered materials, which was instrumental in my success on this certification.

The CompTIA Tech+ (FC0-U71) Certification Course provides foundational knowledge in computing, IT infrastructure, software, database management, and security. It prepares learners to pass the CompTIA Tech+ exam and build essential skills for a career in IT.

Here are my certifications, which I achieved through hard work and dedication. These certifications have earned me 7 credits towards a Bachelor in Cybersecurity at Western Governors University (WGU).

I’ve dedicated a significant amount of effort to passing these exams and am currently preparing for the CompTIA Data+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications. I am also practicing in an Information Control Systems (ICS) course provided by the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to gain insights into the field of Operational Technology (OT), which greatly interests me within the cybersecurity world. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog about my journey into cybersecurity!
